Spinal Management Course - UPDATE
Following a recommendation from the October 2012 LEC meeting to lower the
age of the Spinal Management award to 15 years, this has now been

Chart and associated documents have been updated to reflect this change.
Please find attached the updated resources relating to the change in the
These documents have been uploaded to the website also.
The Spinal Management resources will be released with the new age
prerequisite when we release the new version that has the updated HLT
By lowering the age requirement, it is envisaged that members will be able
to become more highly skilled lifesavers and be skilled to offer a much
greater level of care to the beach-going public.
It also allows clubs to offer a combination of awards concurrently.
We were advised at the meeting that there were no compliance issues
or reason as to why the age had been set at 16 years previously.
